Not just a Sunday thing ....

Not just a Sunday thing …..

There’s more to church than Sunday Services. Just see for yourself – here are some of the things that are happening within St Leonards at the moment:

Getting to know God
Whether you’re a beginner, who knows nothing about God and the Bible or someone who wants to know a bit more then our Alpha courses, Fellowship and Home Groups are for you. These normally meet midweek in an evening and once a month on a Wednesday lunchtime.

Youthful pursuits
We have plenty of activities for our children and young people to take part in. As well as our regular Sunday morning groups in the Contact Service, we also have several uniformed groups – Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts – that meet throughout the week. Our Youth Fellowship for those of secondary school ages meets every other Sunday evening, and also there is fortnightly “Reach”, a bible study evening, and also Youth Alpha is run each year.

Care and Compassion
Part of church life is caring for those in need. There is a team of dedicated visitors who are available to go round during the week to homes and hospitals to ensure that everyone knows they are loved, cared for and really missed in church. Along with this we have our prayer ministry teams; people who will pray with individuals after the services or at any time during the week, for healing, renewal or just to feel at peace with God. We also care through our regular collections for charities and organisations in need.

Activities that make up the life of our Church  - Our Choir which is growing and strenghening under the leader of our organist Gary Hulme, our music group (band) which leads All Age Worship and plays at other services, the Bell ringers ringing every Sunday at 10.30 a.m. and for special occasions as well as weddings where requested.  A team of flower arrangers (not all ladies !), cleaners, gardeners, sidespersons along with the people who run the activies mentioned above.

 Reaching Out
There always seem to be something coming up in the diary of St Leonard’s Church. We hold various events during the year to encourage people both the get to know each other better and to get to know God better.
